And how does religion (or the lack of it) help you get there?

For people to not hate each other so damn much.

It's crazy. People claim to love God, "who" they can't see and yet hate the brother/sister standing right before their very eyes.

I try to smile when speaking to people and treat them with respect.

The first and last thing out my mouth is sir/ma'am, even to a child.

I dont think religion has anything to do with what we want in life, because even if we have never heard of religon as a child we want something. I believe what we want is shown through or invoriment, and we are a customed to aiming high (e.g Money, Nice Car, Nice house, nice job,) when in reality known of those truley matter, my goal in life is to help as many people as possible. You can take Rachel Scott as an example you know the COLUBINE girl. who said "I have this theroy, that one act of kindness can go along way" or similar to that, and she did her goal which was to change the world. Now I know changing the world is a big goal in life, but usally thous that want that in life are the most succesfull and helpfull people you will ever meet. So what I want is just to be kind and help out as much people as possible. because i know inside everyone there is some goodness.

To be happy and very successful with the career I chose. I've had a lot of hard times with college and switching majors within the past year and a half, so to actually see some light at the end of this road so to speak would be amazing.

Religion does not play into it at all. I am not religious, therefore I don't turn to religion for help. I believe it's up to you to make something happen if you truly want it.

I do not base my life whatsoever on religion, that can be assumed automatically because I am an atheist. I personally want to excel in my talents, pursuing a career in graphic design has taken me to that level. From doing this, I am also a step up to providing financial security and a good life for my son. I want to be happy, I know I can be happy, so I am happy. I don't over-dramatize every little detail of my life at the expense of others, I'm happy about that.

Happy healthy children, the love of a good woman, a job I don't hate, and enough money to enjoy and experience life a little bit. That's not too much to ask, is it?
And the only role religion plays in the scenario is that of an obstacle to happiness and freedom that is to be avoided at all costs.

Something to live for and enough resources (money, to be blunt) to be able to live as long as I have something to live for.

My "religion" is basically humanism, as embodied in the Ethical Culture movement. This gives me plenty of things to live for, since the Ethical Society has a motto of "deed before creed." Frankly, many of us treat it as deed instead of creed.

So we are activists in a variety of ways, on a variety of topics. My current project is preparing a presentation for a forum in a little over two weeks [EEEEKK!] about propaganda and brainwashing. It's difficult, because there is a lot to say and I need to boil it down to about half an hour to leave time for questions.

I'm also active with Americans United for Separation of Church and State, and AARP, and the Ron Paul campaign. I'm also applying for jobs as a tutor.

So what I want is to leave the world with a positive balance: that I will have been worth more than the resources it took to sustain me all these years. And I think the Ethical Society of St. Louis is ideally suited to help me get there.

Well..I want the best life has to offer, just like everyone else. That means I have to set goals. Religion helps people achieve their goals, it is like a rule book...you play by the rules..you get the good benefits. Religion gives people something to believe in, the highest goal to achieve. But to achieve that high goal, we first have to play by the rules, which in most religions are pretty much alike.for example, the christian faith has the ten commandments, if we obey those, we will find that it is much easier to achieve what we want in life..they are like guidelines to living.

To be happy not rich, not poor. just being average the little house with the white picket fence not a mansion drive an ford or chevy doesnt have to be anything like a bmw ,vette, allthough they would be a nice lil toys. I think most religions give you a good idea of how to live your life with morals and i think that if you are fair in life life will be fair to you

I've pretty much gotten every thing out of life I have wanted,a happy marriage of 34 yrs.,3 kids all grown up and married, and 3 beautiful happy, healthy grandchildren. But I'll tell you, I've had some trials along the way and without God and his faithfulness I would probably be in a institution some where. God bless!

LIFE! Religion only points in the direction. Spirituality has It's root in LIFE and is not separate from It. Being is the state not doing!
