When you're feeling blue, down, nostalgic, etc., which foods give you comfort?

I make Mama's macaroni and cheese. It's custardy, not saucy. You can cut it into squares if you want.
It always reminds me of mama.

My twin used to make homemade vegetable soup. That's another one.

Homemade "cheese straws" are something else. There is nothing better. No bakery comes close to the ones I make (my great grandmama's recipe.)

Perhaps "Comfort" food is a better way of putting it.

Well it's not the eating of it, but the MAKING of challah that is one of the perks of my spiritual life. Friday is pretty busy making challah and meals for shabbat, but during weeks when everything goes crazy, it helps keep me grounded.

Well, I had to think on that one when you used the word spiritual. I thought you was talking about the dietary law of God as to clean and unclean creatures to be eating or not. I like to eat Chinese food most of the time. Other times i like to eat Jamaican food or chicken any way i can get it sometimes. Baked chicken, boiled or fried now and then with mac&cheese and a green vegatable. Fruits are a tasty treat for me esp. a salad and that somes it up for me. All these foods are good even a vegiterian meal on the sabbathday but it can sure add pounds. So, i'm working it all out!

Seems that all the foods that comfort me are the greasy and unhealthy ones.
There is fried chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, rare cooked steak, homemade vegetable soup (with lots of beef), and anything with sugar in it.
I experiment with different hot teas for calming effects.
And then there is chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate.

All food is spiritual in my religion if it is offered to The Gods first. I personally like pasta as well as special fried rice but love English food like Yorkshire puddings, Shepard's pie and cottage pie.

I prefer not to comfort eat as I feel guilty after wards as we should only eat we are hungry. I like to cook pasta and would love to learn how to make them. My favourite dish would have to tagliatelle carbonara, the creamy sauce with bacon is absolutely delicious. Have you tried it?

No mere physical food is "spiritual". Your soul hunger can only be satisfied by Communion with God and Jesus Christ Who are One in Spirit here upon all of us. John 16:7-16

Continual practice of the Presence of God gives perfect peace and joy and also allows you to have better self-control to not go on food eating binges.

You made me hungry!

Matthew 4:4
Jesus answered Satan and said:
"It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone,
but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God."

Jesus was quoting Deuteronomy 8:3

The Holy Bible, the Word of the Living God, is spiritual food.

Devil's Food Cake. Also, dung cakes. "And thou shalt eat it as barley cakes, and thou shalt bake it with dung that cometh out of man, in their sight. And the LORD said, Even thus shall the children of Israel eat their defiled bread among the Gentiles, whither I will drive them." (Ezekiel 4:12-13)
