Because so many people use evolution to argue against God as the Creator thus polarizing the debate between Creation and Evolution making it a logical "either/or" condition. For many Christians it is much easier to take the stance of a literal interpretation of scriptures since we believe God is omnipotent, thus with God, six days to create the universe is quite possible. To consider scripture in a metaphoric or figurative sense, to allow for a more liberal interpretation, would be offering a concession which many feel is unacceptable.

The Word of God says 6 literal days and He went out of his way to call those 6 days, literal days.
"And the evening and the morning were the first day."
"And the evening and the mornng were the second day."
"And the evening and the morning were the third day."
"And the evening and the morning were the fourth day."
"And the evening and the morning were the fifth day."
"And the evening and the morning were the sixth day."
When God repeats something 6 times, you'd better take it literal. And if you'll notice the only words changed are the numbered day itself. God was making a point my friend.

It's unacceptable to non-christians as well..
The bible clearly states "The evening and the morning were the (insert # here) day." If the earth did not rotate for a million years, no plant life or animal life would exist. So, that theory is totally implausible.

I think that some who find it unacceptable do so because they believe that evolution means that God is not perfect. To them perhaps, God would not design creatures to evolve over time but simply create them in a perfect stagnant state where no change is needed. However, it could just as easily be argued that God designed evolution to begin with as it is pleasing to him to see a vast variety of life in all forms and growth in all creatures. Evolution does not meant that all is not perfect as it is, but merely continues to grow and evolve in a state of perfection (if truly there is such a state).

It is totaly unacceptable because it makes God a liar, and the Bible a book of myths. The two systems, creation and evolution, are not compatable in the least. The Bible says death came through Adam's sin, so how can you have millions of years of death before Adam sinned. Either the Bible is a lie or evolution is s lie.

Because any type of evolution destroys the word of the first chapter of the Holy bible. Destruction of what they consider to be Gods holy word is unacceptable. If it is Gods word why wouldn't it mean exactly what it says? They will accept nothing else.
Good luck.

Well it disagrees with the Bible. Evolution is different in time, order, and mechanism. The Bible says all the plants were created before the Sun and all the stars for pete's sake.

A day to god may not be the same as a day
to us, and I am a christain, and I believe that.
his day is the whole universe making a revolution
our day is the earth making a 24 hr revolution.

Some people take things too literally.
Also, I don't think it helps that certain Atheists are always saying that evolution disproves the existene of a god.

I hold that view. I have a more natural view of God than some of the faithful.
I believe that God does everything within the framework he created and that science has discovered a lot of that framework over time.
