Several different ways.
To answer your question directly, not always 100% original. Many will quote others, and should give credit to the one that it is due to. Some will quote, and not reveal who originally said it.
There have been cases of plagiarism, and when discovered, it certainly does ruin a man's reputation.
There are books that some use with outlines written up, and to use these is an accepted practice, but still the minister should do his own work with it.
A minister should first do his own original research, even going into the original languages if possible for greater understanding. It should be prayed about, thought about, sweated over, and carefully constructed. A poem, or quotes can be used, but not for their own sake, but only to add clarification, or to underscore a point.
By the time all material has been collected, the hardest part is not what to put in, but trying to determine what to leave out!
I do recall that I had been working on a sermon from the Book of James, when during the week I heard some new fellow on the radio giving a sermon that was...the very one I was writing!
I was floored. I complained to my Pastor, and he only said to me, "Great confirmation, isn't it?"
I asked him what he meant, and he told me "We've all been saying the same things for centuries, when you come up with something different, THEN you know you have a problem."

They borrow some material from other sources sometimes. They are supposed to give the sources addresses in case someone else wanted to study further. Some Ministers pray and ask for Gods help in what to minister. But some big churches, have a laid out pattern or program as to what to minister on a certain day. That is where the different denominations come in.

I am a P.K. (Preacher's Kid) I can tell you that my Father would lock the door to his office in our house and put a sign that he was with God and do not disturb. He would read the Bible and pray and he would ask the word of God to be made manifest through him and the sermon. He always gave God the Glory! Yes, all Pastors site their sources, they will say what scripture the word comes from. I have never heard a Pastor who did not site their source (scripture)

Nothing is plagiarized.
We use the Holy Bible as our text, we build a three point message from that, and we insert interesting stories about people that help to illustrate the points in the sermon.
The stories are not plagiarized because they either are either accessible to anyone, or they are subscribed to from a source of Bible illustrations.

i do not think they use inspiration from God as the main source...
because most sermons are boring
they have a set of sermons, borrowed, school notes, TV, internet, book sources, last place is bible....when they use the bible...they just paraphrase what is there..no new revelation.
then they recycle them, once they have been through them once...so when they start to recycle. you can leave, because you have already heard it before.
that is why i stay home

The sermon was about how we are "people of the Resurrection". We are called to celebrate the risen Christ, and to practice the love that Christ taught us toward others. Also, when Christ was found to be missing from the tomb, He wasn't recognized at first by some of the disciples. If Christ appeared among us today, would we be able to recognize Him?

They borrow from Wachtower and Awake magazines I know cause I used to gave the maganizes to a Pastor and he used but never told his flocks the source, I stopped giving him the magazines cause he didn´t tell them the source.
I know people will hate this answer but is true, they read it to take ideas and topics.

I had one pastor tell me that I was his muse and his inspiration. He gave all kinds of fiery sermons on the sins of lust, the power of satan and all the temptations in the world.

They just make stuff up as they go along. They pretend to have it all written out but really, those pages are blank. They are just making it up. They come up with their sermons by drinking a bunch of Christ's blood.
