I view climate change as a cycle - whatever maybe it's cause. So just like before, both mankind and the animal species are always under threat - from new types or complex diseases, and worse climatic conditions.

I also believe that mankind is adapting (a more tame word for "mutating") to such or any changes in his environment. If it is only now some people are realizing climate change - sorry - it had already started ages ago, and there is no way stopping it. What we may experience or feel now, is already the after effect of previous dramatic changes around the world both man-made and natural. The earth is also in the process of adapting to such changes, hopefully in the process of healing itself.

Not at all, the only reason the goverments are making a big deal out of this is that they know they can make money from scaring us! It was the same when we had green house gases, the world is evolving, we had an ice age, what do you think happened to that, progression. The world heated up and thats how we ended up here and as time goes by we will have a heat age and adapt accordingly. So when we pay these global warming taxes what are they doing with all the money, there not repairing the hole in the ozone layer ( if one really exist ) there not extracting the carbon dioxide out of the air and pumping out clean CO2 free air ( plants need co2 to carry out photosemphaus ) also in the 1900's there were worse polluting factories and houses than there is today and they had no problems. It's just another way for the goverment to rip us off even more without us reliasing it and everyone is falling for it, if the goverment where that bothered about it why do they still drive round in 4x4's and big engine cars?? change starts at the top!!

Climate change is a significant threat: public health - our survival - security, etc.

Climate change is actually regional in effect and generally dependent on aircraft routes (flight tracks); thus, it has different effects based on locality. However, once the climate “trigger” has been pulled, the effects could be global.

The majority of climate change is caused by air travel.

Also, aircraft are the only proven man-made cause of climate change, resulting in an immediate change in temperature over North America diurnally by over 1 degree Celsius (Travis, 2002).

When aircraft were removed from the sky over North America, because of 9-11, the temperature quickly reverted back to pre-1950s over the US diurnally. Not coincidently, the 1950s was the advent of jet air travel.

Sadly, flights are supposed to triple by about 2015-2020 and double every 8-10 years thereafter, until 2050, if left unchecked; this is likely to lead to something catastrophic in our lifetime.

Some of my advisors believe that something catastrophic could begin as early as 2011 or so; if it has not begun already.

The effect could be "irreversible"; thus, nature would take its course and it could be hundreds to thousands of years before it was "normal" again, if possible.

...But no one knows what will happen for sure.

The U.S. Pentagon has done a climate doom scenario regarding the issue that is quite an enlightening read.

*The real answer is to immediately limit flights and develop viable alternatives; however, the powerful air transport industry is opposed to them.

Humanity is the threat to climate change.

Maybe. In the worst-case scenario, temperatures may rise 30 C over the next few hundred years. This would not kill all humans, but it would probably kill most of them.

This worst-case is regarded as unlikely but not impossible---it requires substantial positive feedback of greenhouse gasses besides CO2.

The more likely case is a 2 to 5 C rise in a century. This will disrupt many ecologies and cause a great many deaths.

I think we humans have a more threatening situations coming on the horizon than any global warming threat. We are going to be threatened by religion -- don't matter whose -- before we worry about GW.

ultimately...yes, i mean not now, and thats y no one is doing anything about it, right now it is not a threat, but the things we r doing now, or the things we are not doing, will lead to a great threat for future humanity.
