Get real! Why would some drunk dude write against sin? Why would he write "Do not be given to wine or strong drink." If he were a drunkard? They didn't have taverns back then.

There are SO many reasons why:
1. Because of how soon after the fact writings about it started popping up.
2. Because of how soon after the fact Christianity appeared on the scene (within less than ten years).
3. Because the New Testament was obviously written by more than one person.
4. Because of WHERE Christianity originated (Jerusalem, which is where Jesus was crucified).
5. Because the New Testament contains this phrase: "I saw this with my own eyes." and "I KNOW this to be true." Some examples: John 19:35, Acts 9:35 ("All those who SAW, believed." And this was written before 68 A.D.), Galatians 1:18-20 (Paul met both Peter, and James, Jesus' brother), John 21:24, Acts 2:22, Acts 4:10...and there are many more!
So that's how I'm convinced that it wasn't all in the imagination of some dude. Besides, all but one of the writers of the New Testament died a horrible death. Know which one died naturally? John, son of Zebedee. And he was beaten, exiled, imprisoned, and at one point even boiled alive.

Funny you should say that because I'm 99.9% positive that is exactly how it started.
Look for example at what this dude jesus did to all the lovely water he was given to drink....he turned it straight into booze!
He did well though, convincing so many other people to believe....although when you consider that people like Ron L Hubbard and David Koresh can do the same these days despite people theoretically being more aware (because of modern communications) that there are lots of crackpots out there it doesn't seem quite so surprising that so many people were suckered in 2000yrs ago.

Good question. The Muslims in the Arab countries account for 326 million people. There are barely 5 million Jews in Israel.
The Arab/Muslim world has 4.3 million square miles. Israel is maybe 10,000 square miles. Israel has a 95% literacy rate. The Arab world is 66%. Life expectancy in Israel is 75. In Afghanistan it is 45. Most other Arab countries fall below 70 years.
The average yearly income of a family in Israel is $18,000 (it was higher when more tourists were visiting). The average yearly income of the Arab world in general is about 4,000.
Israel is a democracy in the middle of a region made of people who want to destroy every last man woman and child living on the land, yet Israel thrives far beyond its Muslim Arab neighbors.
Muslims living within the borders of Israel have a far greater life that those living in other Arab lands etc. They are allowed freedom of religion and have a vote in the democratic process. No one will kill them because they slept with their boss's wife or shaved their beard or converted to another religion. They have rights they have no where else.

You hit the nail right on the head. His name was Waldo, but it wasn't a tavern he was sitting in, it was Starbucks in downtown Chicago.

It has too much in common with earlier religions and myths. It is the creation of more than one man. It is a task that took great concentration and creativity.

Because it would have been a lot more palatable and involved some good laughs if this were the case.

We don't, but its unlikely that several drunk guys, in different taverns, at different times came up with a coherent story.
