Bad premise. God is a superstition.

The real reason that religions look down on interfaith marriages is that it exposes converts to another religious superstition. Religions are all based on emotional arguments, not reason, logic, and evidence. Therefore, it is relatively easy for a person to change which religion he emotionally associates with. This is especially true with the person of the other religion is involved romantically.

In reality, mixing religions helps diffuse the harm that all religions do to society. Once people get real insight into the beliefs of someone else, they get a broader view of religion as a whole. They tend not to obsess about their own religious superstition.

Unfortunately, religions tend to be divisive, and often get in the way of a good relationship. I've know many couples who have broken up because of religious differences, with one often becoming more obsessed about their own religious superstition.

This is yet another way that religion harms society.

Personally, I am an atheist who comes from a Christian family. One pair of grandparents and several aunts and uncles are Jewish. My wife is Muslim.

the answer is in the same scripture. i take at as just good advice, rather than a commandment, though it could be. it just makes sense. anyone who is serious about his or her faith should definitely think twice about marrying someone who believes differently. a five-minute peek in R&S on any given day will show you how much conflicting beliefs can cause problems between people. ''why would God prohibit such a thing?'' because He's practical.

It's difficult to make a marriage work when both parties don't share the same religion. My husband is a non-religious agnostic theist (if that makes sense). I'm a Christian. We disagree on EVERYTHING, except for the existence of God (he's fairly sure God exists, hence the agnostic part).

It would just be a lot easier if he was a Christian. I think we'd agree on more. Besides, I can't do my devotions when he's around (makes the weekends and when he's on leave pretty hard), he used to try to discourage me from going to church (and he used to belittle me for my beliefs), I can't go to Bible studies because he doesn't like it, I can't discuss religion with him unless he brings it up (which he rarely does), I can't tell him if I find something cool when I'm reading the Bible, I can't pray with him...

It just makes things harder, that's all.

Don't get me wrong, I love my husband. I just wish that religion was something we could share.

Review Paul's epistles and you will find no such restriction.

Because in Scripture, the Lord specifically told His people NOT to do so with the other cultures.

Sin and salvation do not mix

I am a born again Christian.....so is my wife. I wouldn't have married her if she wasn't......because then I would be unequally yolked with a non-believer....and therefore, going contrary to the Scriptures.
