God the Father and the Holy Spirit are pure spirit and so was the second Person of the Trinity before coming to Earth as a human being(Jesus) the fact that Jesus became man and called God His Father should be answer enough to your question.

God and angels are spirits and without gender.
Because humans are male and female we refer to God as Father because it is better that referring to him as IT.
God inspired the Bible and it refers to Him in Masculine identity thought in reality He is infinitely above gender.
It is God's choice by what name and identity He call Himself.
He told Moses tell them (Egyptians) that "IAM THAT I AM" has sent you. Jesus prayed to God as Our Father and there are hundreds of similar references. The Jews wrote Gods unpronouncable name as YHVH and some have added the vowels of Adonai (Lord) to get the transposed name JEHOVAH. Hebrew scholars and Jewish scholars say it is more likely YAWEH but the proper name has been forgotten and the pronounciation lost.

Wouldn't in be obvious that God is male? The Bible repeatedly when mentioning God says "He" did this or that. When Jesus addresses God, Jesus always calls God His "Father". Obviously God is male.
