I would never, and never have recommend a boiler that sounds italian or french, Worcester Bosch and Vaillant are reknown as the best quality on the uk market, efficiencies on new boilers are similar, more important that you have a temperature control on the hot water, and if you run a bath every day, or the washing machine running every day, as we do, then a boiler (30kw or more)with a pre heat function (and timed control of the function) are crucial. On installation, a powerflush is the optimum way to clean the system, and installation of inhibitor is also critical. Try an installer who is approved by the manufacturer of the boiler to be installed, the guarantees will be up to 5 years. The problem is, nobody is going to fit all the above criteria at 1700, combi replacement should be around 2100, convert from cylinder system to combi around 2600, this should also include fitting a Magnaclean or Boiler buddy unit to be sure of removing iron deposits (difference to boiler replacement is years with this fitted).

Combi boilers vary in price from around £450 to £1000 depending on output, quality and flue arrangement. Find out which boiler has been quoted for, go on to the manufacturers website and download the spec for that model and check what the hot water flow rate will be. If you live alone or with a partner, in a modest house, a smaller simple combi such as the Biasi will probably suffice but if you have children, esp. teenage girls who take baths every five minutes then you really need the better quality combi with the higher flow rates such as the Worcester Greenstar. The installation costs won`t be much different. Do some homework on the net and get yourself clued-up. as the others say, get more quotes from Corgi registered firms who have been recommended by friends and colleagues. DON`T go for the cheapest go for the one that offers the best value,, they`re not the same thing. Good Luck

Price seems very reasonable, but you need to check which boiler is included in the price, which exact model, then you can check it out on google or csome other source.
Also get some other quotes, at least two more, so you can compare. Find out which boiler each time.
Then you can make your decision.

That price actually sounds very reasonable. Before you buy, check out the combi brand rankings. Check out the hvac ratings page at www.hvac-for-beginners.com. Then click on the boiler ratings page.

That sounds very cheap to me. Boilers alone cost around £1300.

That's within the normal range of quotes.
Whether you are getting a good product is a different matter. When spending that much money, you should get three quotes.

No, that does acctually seem very reasonable. Plumbers (corgi registered ones) are skilled trades people & as such, the combined labour & equipment costs will be high.
