I think your best bet is to try and identify the cause of depression and see if you can do something about whatever it is at the source level. If you hate your job or you’re in a bad relationship or something like that, you might be due for a change.

Having said that, there are ways to use nutrition to help with depression. Many people successfully treat depression with the amino acid L-Tyrosine. Tyrosine is converted into the neurotransmitters dopamine and norepinephrine, which regulate mood. If you want to get more Tyrosine from your diet, tyrosine is found in soy products, chicken, fish, almonds, avocados, bananas, dairy products, lima beans, pumpkin seeds, and sesame seeds, It is also available as a supplement in health food stores. I would suggest 500mg or less for most people.

I've suffered from depression for several years and sought some professional help, but it never really helped. What I did to to help myself was exercise. I have also educated myself on depression and learned why I was depressed, so I could fix it. I surrounded myself with positive people. The greatest help to me has been meditation. It will help clear your mind, and discipline it. Good luck!;)

I have suffered from depression in varying degrees over the years. Types of cures i tried i wouldn't recommand to anyone. Mostly drugs and alcohol and denial I even tried to bleach my hair as an escape from myself. Didn't work the only thing I can recommend is for you to take some 'me time' figure out what it is about your life thats bringing you down and change it.

Exercise and living a healthy lifestyle.

Booze, lack of sleep, lack of vitimins all worsen depression.

A balance diet with your five a day, some dark chocolate for the happy hormones, 8 glasses of water a day, regular exercise = happier person!

Homeopathic remedies. Get a book by Dr Keith Souter called Homeopathy Heart and Soul. It helps you diagnose what type of depression you have and what remedy works best for it. I took arsenic (arsenicum album) for road rage and it worked!

Omega-3 fish oils. Good scientific evidence that they are helpful, and may even prevent depression. Trouble is you need 6x 1000mg capsules per day. Most important is the EPA fatty acid.

The best remedy is for you to get on and do things.

You'll get satisfaction and confidence from doing things, and that's the best remedy.

Don't look for mystery cures, just get on with your life and do things.
