or did they make their own weapons?

Not just weapons. Turkey was not in a position to fight a modern war in 1914. The men were mostly conscripts of peasant stock from Anatolia - they very tough, couageous and stubborn, but very badly equipped and some even without uniforms. Training was very poor, both for men and officers.

Germany provided German instructors, advisers and officers. They also provided the designs for Mauser rifles, which the Turks then produced themselves, artillery (mostly Krupp and Schneider field guns), warships such as the battlecruiser Goeben and the light cruiser Breslau; Turkish uniforms were modelled on the German style, but in khaki instead of field grey. 1,500 Turkish officers were trained abroad under German instructors.

The answer is that Turkey depended on Germany for up-to-date equipment such as artillery and warships, but in the case of uniforms and rifles (for example) they were able to produce their own when given the designs.

I suspect Germany provided the Turks with plenty of weapons although probably the type that were alittlemore dated than what the typical German soldier would have been carrying.

Turkey was't quite the manufacturing center of the world as Germany was. It's pretty apparent that the weapons they did have on hand helped in the near genocide of the Armenians...despite what these morons in Turkey are denying now. Like admiting the Holacaust never existed. Yeah...right.

Fact: When the discussion of the "Final Solution" came up, several of Hitler's military advisors were mortified of his plans for the total elimination of the Jews. "What would the world think of us?" one advisor asked in horror. "Nothing....who even remembers or cares when the Turks were killing the Armenians?" was Hitler's reply.

They made a lot of their own weapons but they also imported cannon from Germany. They relied on German airplanes
