Hi, I'm freaking out a bit here, as a robin just flew in to the office through an open door, I managed to catch him and let him out but I've heard that if a robin flies in through a window death shortly follows... I'm hoping it is only if it comes in through a window??!!!

P.s. thanks for all your comments so far... Guess I'm way too superstitious - I still salute crows :-)

If you beleive every thing everyone tells you you would not live long you worrie your self to death , my gran had a robin that used to come in her kitchen, she lived for years and so did every one else , just be pleased you let the bird go, and youve done your good deed for the day, TTFN

A robin coming in through an open window means...that a robin flew through the window. Deep stuff.

And although I am sure the crows appreciate your salute, it's magpies that you are supposed to acknowledge!

I don't know about the superstition but my Grandad had a tame robin living in his garden, he spent so much time out there that it lost the fear and would sit on his shoulder while he was working. It used to fly in and out of the house through windows and doors quite often. It brought it's whole family into the house to visit once and nothing bad ever happened.

Nope, the robin has no merit in this case.

Some superstitions are based on commonsense, for example, walking under ladders, walking under a ladder could be unlucky if the person at the same time dropped something that killed you.

Robins, not very likely is it!

Crows seem to hang around grave yards, so have become associated with the Dead, this may be more to with the planting of tall trees near graveyards and churches, and crows like to nest in tall trees. they are also attracted to berry producing trees, and Yew and Holly are common in graveyards.

All superstitions are nonsense. They all rely on putting two or more unrelated things together and making up some silly nonsense about them. Ask yourself how could a bird flying in a window cause anyone to die. Of course a death will follow because people die all the time but nothing to do with any bird.

Well i have heard this but if it was true there wouldn't be many people alive in rural countryside.
Robins are always coming in my house
they are very confident, sociable little birds
