What percentage of A-List actresses of the last 25 years or so have NEVER taken their clothes off for a movie? Any hard statistics? It seems Hollywood is convinced that nudity is required to get considered for an Oscar these days....

Actually you are wrong about Cameron Diaz, she posed nude before breaking into movies.

For the 2007 Oscars, four out of five nominees for best actress did not have a nude scene. Four out of five nominees for best supporting actress did not have a nude scene.

So what are you talking about?

Actually, there are quite a few female stars who haven't done any real nudity (not counting body doubles, of course).

Julia Roberts (body double)
Sandra Bullock (came close in an early pic, but was actually taped up)
Cameron Diaz
Renée Zellweger
Jennifer Garner
Kirsten Dunst (body double)
Winona Ryder
Lindsay Lohan
Sarah Jessica Parker
Jennifer Love Hewitt
Jessica Alba (body double)
Scarlett Johansson
Mandy Moore
Sarah Michelle Gellar
Alyson Hannigan
Amanda Bynes
Christina Applegate
Julia Louis-Dreyfus
Bonnie Hunt
Hilary Duff
Bernadette Peters
Whoopi Goldberg
Heather Locklear (body double)...

Quite a few, actually.

Then there are those who haven't shown much. Sally Field, for instance, only has one brief nude scene (butt only) in her career. Alicia Silverstone has never done a nude scene in a movie (but recently did a discreet "nude" charity ad for Peta).

And several actresses got through their prime as actresses before finally deciding to show it all before they got too old (Meg Ryan and Farrah Fawcett come to mind).

I am sure that there are no hard stats.. Unfortunately the Oscars are not necessarily given for artistic achievement, and movies tend to be a reflection of our tastes and values.

I'm with Hollywood on this but so as not to be elitist I would widen the opportunity to include actresses not on the A list too.
