In the early 1920's, my Grandmother Margo was the only daughter of a wealthy family. She met a Chinese man called Sam Tong Way, and they fell in love. Because he was Chinese, they were forbidden from seeng each other.
Each day Sam would put some flowers at the front gate, and Grandma would collect them.
She struck a stem from one of the roses, a beautiful pink tea rose, and from it grew a rosebush. Throughout her life she took the rosebush with her from place to place, often in the form of cuttings which she would strike.
She passed away in 1994 at the age of 93. Before she passed away, she asked my Mother to keep the Sam's rose going.
My Mother died a few years ago, and now it is up to me to care for Sam's rose. I have 3 bushes , and I tend them with great devotion, as an act of reverance for their sad but beautiful history.

All relationships are love stories and start out with joy, fun, doing things together, enjoying each others company and then one day reality sets in. I can tell you that in one relationship then marriage I tried and succeeded at being newlyweds at least to the outside world for about 7 years, knowing full well that the newlywed thing wore off within the first few weeks of marriage. Everyone thought we were the "ideal" couple. It's funny how, at least back then, people believed what they saw, and never thought for one second that everyone goes thru the same thing, and it's called "reality".
I do have a love story to share, and it was with someone from another country. I promised myself that I'd write a book but realized that I "may" never be able to put the feeling to paper. It ended in elation then in deceit, but the story was interesting, or at least interesting to me.
