Quote taken from The Sun newspaper (Melbourne) 12/10/07:
The Prime Minister stunned mental health campaigners when he said, while speaking about mental health "It's not a bad idea for some people to be told they should get on with life".
IT'S MENTAL HEALTH WEEK - Can the moron get anymore IGNORANT !!

Mr. Home-School: Telling a depressed person to get on with life is like telling a cancer patient to get over it...insensitive, ignorant and WRONG.
Mental illness is cancer of the mind - your sob story is not relevant to my question.

He would probably say "I am only saying what a lot of people are saying" which seems to be his and the Liberals stock answer when they want to put forward any of their many ignorant and prejudicial policies and public statements. He is an idiot and an ignoramus! What they should say is "I am only saying what a lot of ILL-INFORMED IDIOTS are saying"!!
Any person who has lived with or cared for someone who suffers from depression or any other mental illness will know that it is a complex issue and a lot of the problem is that people expect them to 'just get over it'.
And this idiot expects us to get him back? You have GOT to be joking!!

That's coming from a man that wont get on with the inevitable in his life and call an election.
Lets face it though John Howard has never lived in the real world thats why he has reduced funding into mental health when it is increasing more in our community.
So get on with it John so we can vote you out.

I left Oz in '96 to work in Ireland while the celtic tiger roared.
I just missed having to vote that time and Im glad I did'nt.
I never liked his weak style. Pity Paul Keating is gone as he could keep the weed in line. I hope when I return next year that Howard is booted out and a stronger leader is in place who is not afraid to stand up to the likes of Bush and his (con)cronies. Ahhh that feels better!!!

Howard only opens his mouth to exchange feet !
He should be told to get a life, build a bridge and get over it and if he can't get over it, find a noose and swing from it.
But seriously, he is an ignorant man without a compassionate bone in his evil little body.

Yikes - does John even know what mental illness means and how it affects individuals, their friends, family and the community?
John needs to face the fact - he will lose to Kevin Rudd in this election, so how about facing the inevitable in your own life, please, John, and call the election!

John Howard is an IDIOT!
I don't understand why he is PM and I think he needs to be thrown out of office NOW!!!
What a loser, Johnny needs to realize his time as PM is up and he SHOULD GET ON WITH LIFE!

Unfortunately, it's very believable that he would say something like that. What a douche bag. He should just "get on with" the election.

Frankly. I agree with him. Some people need that. Too many people ruminate about old hurts to the point where they can't live a happy life now. I'm quite tired of the culture of victimization. At one time, I was living in my car and working my way through college. I was eating peanut butter sandwiches for weeks. Never asked for a dime from anyone. I would have been ashamed to admit I needed help, even to myself. Yeah. I just got on with my life. Now, I would have been called homeless and malnourished. The biggest problem with the culture of victimization, they see no hope for their future. They are told "you can't get ahead because the "man" is keeping you down." Someone should be telling them exactly what John Howard said!
Bravo!!

I totally agree with his comment ! Bloody oath, SOME people need to get on with it ! I had a mate who whent through PTSD and after a failed suicide attempt was placed overnight in a cancer ward, that he said woke him up ! I'm not saying PTSD is all in the mind, but SOME people need to wake up !
