IMO the Orleans is the best resort in LV for families.
http://www.orleanscasino.com/hotel/amenities.html
Tripadvisor.com ranked the Orleans as the #2 best value hotel in the world

Kids Tyme - for little kids
Arcade - for big kids
70 lane Bowling alley
18 screen movie theater
Their own arena for sporting events(LV Wranglers hockey team for one)
One of the top 3, best value buffets in LV
free shuttle to the middle of the strip, and to the Gold Coast.

The "Prime Rib Loft" is one of the best value steakhouses in LV.

The "Courtyard Cafe" - is really nice for breakfast - Most mornings they have specials for as little as $1.95 up to about $3.50 for steak & eggs.

Hot dogs are $1 - if you want a great burger, there is Terrible Mike's. They have a Subway, Kate's Korner for ice cream, Don Miguel's is a nice Mexican restaurant, it seems like they have 11 restaurants all together.

They give you a nice "funbook" when you check in, that has several discount coupons. They should give you one each(adult)

Their gift shop sells items for barely more than at the store, rather than at rip-off prices like most. So you can buy milk-chips-pop-etc for a reasonable price.

Security checks room keys, so that only hotel guests are allowed access to rooms.

The pool is okay, nothing special.

The folks at the business center are great.

One of the really nice things about the Orleans is they will allow you to check in early, with no hassle. We checked in one time at 6am, and they were super nice about it.

The Orleans has "strip view" rooms that have an awesome panoramic view of the strip. Just ask for a room on one of the upper floors(16-19 are best) and for a room that faces the strip(02-44 even - 02 is the end of the hall, 44 is near the elevator).

>Please remember that when you ask for special favors, they are going above and beyond. The strip view rooms do sell at a premium, they are an upgrade. Checking in several(or many) hours early is really-really nice, and while it's a good idea to be friendly to the desk clerk and understanding of their situation. When they come through for you, they sure appreciate "thank you" but they really appreciate the $$($5-$10-$20)handshake along with your gratitude. $$ is of course dependant upon many factors, "what it's worth to you, should be the deciding factor"

If you want to gamble, the Orleans is one of the best casios in LV for low table minimums, and their slot club is one of the very best. If you stay at the Orleans and play even a small amount you can expect some type of offer from marketing. Either free of deeply discounted rooms for your next stay.

I would advise against Circus Circus, Excalibur maybe, CC no way. The Stratosphere would be a much better choice than CC.

We go to LV 2-3 times a year for 2 weeks or more at a time and have for over 20 years. The Orleans is one of our favorites.

Mandalay Bay is the least kid friendly I think. It's boring, the inside is strangely like the inside of lows hardwear or something, and last time I checked, it was expensive. Also, it's very far from the strip. You have to wait for the little shuttle thing everytime you want to go anywhere or take a cab. Try the Excalibur (the castle themed hotel) or the Luxor (the egyptian themed hotel), or Circus Circus (circus themed hotel). Kids know these themes, which makes it fun for them. Also, the Monte Carlo has a really fun pool, with a wave pool, a lazy river (like where the water runs like a river and you can ride in tubes and stuff), and just plain regular pools. I think they're might have been a waterslide too, idk, that was a while ago. Personally, though, Vegas is not currently a place for young children. All the casinos are low on income, and they're not spending any extra money. Extra money, is money spent on attractions for kids. They want 21+, drinking till they're drunk, and gramblers. They are not interested in family vacations, not in this economy. Try another place. Maybe disneyland. That's enjoyable for everyone.

You may want to consider a hotel that doesn't have a casino. Take a look at the Platinum Hotel (www.theplatinumhotel.com). You can get two bedrooms; they have a full kitchen; two baths; etc. It's a beautiful place and it's new. You can check the reviews at www.tripadvisor.com.

Good luck!

Circus Circus, it's family oriented.

You may also try Best Western near the airport. They have a free shuttle bus every hour to bring you to the strip. They serve very good breakfast. The room rate comes with a free buffet breakfast.

I'm sure they have a lot of them. I hear all the time that they have a lot of things especially for kids. I'm sure you'd be able to tell if a place was directed to the kind of place you wouldn't want to take your kids. Maybe you can find some online before you go. Just key in, "special hotels for kids in Las Vegas.com"
