I'd kill the little feckers ... no, not literally, but you know what I mean. It's a huge intrusion of privacy, how dare they. The gurriers.
Cut off their pocket money. Deny them television, telephone and computer privileges. Ground them. Take away their MP3 players and mobile phones. (These days you can't give a good slap without being branded an abuser of children, but honestly, sometimes .... you need a sting like that to reinforce no, but you shouldn't need to use it after a certain age).
Make sure your spouse backs you up on this.

Sometimes if I'm stuck on a late train home I ring & ask the kids to open my post. They've never done it without my permission but I've got nothing to hide.

My mum opens mine sometimes but only when the company has put Mrs instead of Miss , so its a genuine mistake but I have made it quite clear that noone should open my mail unless I tell them to , we all respect each other that way.

No, not at all. It is against manners to open someone else's post. You can well train your kids to respect you and not to open your post.

You need to crack down on that nonsense right away. Of course your children should not open you post.
Send a letter to yourself, giving details of how you are arranging to sell your kids into slavery because you are fed up of them opening your post.
I hav two grown up children and we have a rule not to open each other's post. I don't even open my wife's unless she asks me to. Its a matter of respect.
