The largest difference is the time lag. The renaissance arrived slowly. Italy started in the 15th century, England & France got there in the 16th and northern Europe later and some bits of europe jumped straight from the middle ages to the industrial revolution. Information, fashions and ideas travelled slowly in those days.

there are several differences:
Italy, due to different causes, started Renaissance before, mainly as Italy started Humanism (rebirth of studies of ancient masterpieces and literature) before, because Italy had a great richness accumulated during the middle ages, because the new leading classes of Italy, quite always coming from little noblemen and from Merchant classes wanted to embetter theirs families with mecenatism. So we have a difference of at least 50-70 years between the spread of Renaissance in Italy and in Central Europe ... Also Italian Renaissance was more linked to study of classical arts, as we have it at home... and as we came from "Romanic" that, as said by name, was a evolution of roman style....In Italy was very less influenced by "Gothic" that, in arts, was the real novelty of Middle Ages. Important Gothic works are only in Assisi in Italy, or in Milan Dome (even if even there you see a very different style in compared with France and England) . The result is that Styles are very different from Italy to norther Europe...
