Actually, not all women DO love diamonds. Most of them do not mind having them but the people who LOVE diamonds are materialsistic. They want to have something that all of their friends do not have. I think that spending so much money on a rock is pointless. Diamonds are only things and like all things, they do not last.

As far as the women who say it shows you care , I say aww bullsh*t .....I have nver bought my girlfriend a ring of any kind , instead , I worked , paid off our home , paid for all four cars , bought and paid for the kids houses , and when the youngest turns 18 , we are going to retire ...the kids have a great start , no mortgages , no car payments , and she gets to travel and no longer work when she is 41 and I will be 48 if I go ( die) she is set and so are my kids , instead of buying a ring for 5 or 10 grand I invested it , and made her a 100 grand to re invest on her own , it has grown 10 times that amount as of today ....I think giving the one you love a very well secure debt free future with no credit debt is way better than a stupid ring , if I die tomorrow she will have money ( not credit ) to continue living as she does now , she does not have to do anything all final arrangements are a done deal .....a ring ,and a ton of debt left behind is not love ..

Its just some sort of a sales gimmick. Females are kinda more gullible in this sense. Diamonds are simply another allotrope of carbon, i.e. the same as graphite. They are rather worthless, considering that they can be manufactured synthetically. Give them lots of graphite the next time they ask for it, and ask them to apply LARGE amount of pressure to it to convert graphite to diamond.
