Excerpts:
>>China has already objected to honouring a man it regards as a leader of a separatist state.<<
>>China now governs Tibet, which the Dalai Lama fled in 1959 following a failed uprising.
The spokesman said China was opposed to any country or person using the Dalai Lama issue to interfere in China's internal affairs.<<

Wasn't Tibet an independent and separate country before it was invaded by China? If so, what right does China have to claim "internal affairs"?

Tibet is not actually part of the China. The issue is known to the world. Dalai Lama has fought for the independence of their land for a long time. China is opposing the indenpendence of Tibet because it claims that it is integral part of China. British which has invaded many countries, subjugated them and left their colonies making the subjagated countries independent. Action of china is nothing but interefering with soverignity of the Tibet. United Nations consisting of various nations should take the issue with China and make the Tibet an independent country. If the Chinese does not yield to the demand, economic and diplomatic relation must be cut off from the China by all the members of United Nations.

The United Nations must interfere on this conflict wherein Tibet must be recognized as another country and not to be controlled by China. The only problem with this situation is the veto power of China as a member of the Security Council. This is one of the ironies for which the United Nations is supposed to protect, poor countries must not be exploited by superpowers.

The simple answer is demographics. China systematically eliminated the indigenous population while moving Chinese into the area. Over time the area became significantly Chinese, and thus any problem affecting this area was deemed an "internal affair".
Our refusal to realize that China rules Tibet does not negate the reality of this unfortunate event.

OK one more time I will try to explain this, listen up.
Some countries in the world are held to a higher standard than other countries.
First among these is the U S then comes Britain, Australia and possibly Germany.

The rest of the world can do as they please and it doesn't matter.
They work on the old mind over matter rule:
If you don't mind what other people think and there are no voters to hold you accountable then it really doesn't matter what you do. Rape, pillage and plunder to your hearts content and the U N will refuse to call it Genocide because they might have to do something.

China gets to keep Tibet because they are willing to fight to keep it.
