A skunk has apparently taken up residence in this storm drain that goes under our neighbor's driveway.

A couple weeks ago, neighbor tried to frighten skunk away by shooting air rifle up in the air and making a dreadful racket. Didn't scare skunk away.

Another neighbor's dog barked furiously when skunk went into their yard. Didn't scare skunk away.

Tonight, we came home after dark, after visiting friends. Skunk was in our yard. I went into our house quietly. Don't want to scare skunk. With my luck, it would be me who gets sprayed.

Any ideas on how to get rid of him?

Go to the hunting sectionof Wal Mart and get some deer pee, not sure what the exact brand or name of it is, but it comes in a bottle and it's honest to gosh urine! Sprinkle it around where that stinker lives and that might give him the (phony) message that something already lives there and he'll vamoose! Some moth balls down there or a whole can of black pepper might do the trick also. Good luck!

The skunk won't spray you if you don't look like you are attacking it. Tell your neighbors to just leave the skunk alone for a week because it could go away on its own ... but if it is still in the neighborhood, or if it gets destructive of your or your neighbor's property, call your city or county animal control people, and ask them to come capture it and take it to a place where it will be safe.

Try giving it a good drenching with the hose. It worked for me once. Sprayed that skunk before it had a chance to spray me. And it was stamping its front feet like it was getting ready to.

If it has a 'residence' maybe you can toss some mothballs or cayane pepper into the hole.

It has to be something that is really in the skunk's face. They are very unperterbable.
