Their is no one answer for why a person cheats. If all the cheaters would answer your question, you would find out that some do it because they are:
unhappy with their partner
little to no sex with their partner
just a cheater by nature
just so dam easy for some to do
they like the thrill or cheating
just a whore
and lots more but you get the idea.

I don't cheat but find that whenever someone posts a question such as yours (I have done so in the past), it is not the ones who cheated who answer. Why is this? We are asking this question so we can get some insight from the cheaters. Come on, if you cheated - be honest and help those of us who have had an unfaithful spouse or are just wondering why. Yes, you may get some people who judge you, but you would be helping those of us who have had a loved one be unfaithful. Really, only those who have cheated can answer this question truthfully; others are speculating and giving their opinions.

If your partner cheats on you it's probably because they thought they could get away with it without being caught.
Cheats can find any old excuse to cheat but at the end of the day I think it's selfishness and lack of consideration for their partner.
I value my partnership way too much to put that in jeopardy, so no I am not cheating on him.

I believe there is no excuse to cheating. But if you ask my husband, he would say we were having problems in our marriage and that I was just not listening to him anymore, that is why he turned to another girl. Even though I felt the same way, I never thought about turning to another guy.
Unfortunately, love has diminished in our relationship because of the cheating, and we are separating now, although he says he still loves me deeply.
It is sad, but its true.

I dont think it matters if you are marries or not. If you are in a committed relationaship then you shouldnt cheat. There are no excuses. I have just found out my partner has cheated on me and I feel so hurt.

I am married and have not and will not cheat on my husband. That is the point in being married, you comit yourself to each other and each other alone, if you can't do that they you shouldn't be married.

i'm not married, and don't cheat, never will do even if i am married or not. happened to me before and it wasn't nice, never want to hurt someone like that.

i have never cheated, but i think the reason for it is the person blames all of their problems in life on their mate, and they believe that if they get rid of their mate and find someone else that their problems will be over with. its just a way of running away from life and problems, and never taking responsibility for them.

I would never cheat, but people just find others besides their wife/husband who can give them what they are possibly desiring at that moment (usually better sex). Or you could just be a horrible person...
