now I am not Gerrard's biggest fan by any strecth of the imagination, but Beckham better than him? hahahahah that is hilarious, Beckham is absolutely hopeless in open play, has had like one good season in 10 years and is just a sell out overrated joke going to the States to become a celebrity rather than a footballer.

I hate Gerrard and Beckham, but I respect gerrard as a talented footballer (not as good as people make him out to be IMO), However he is 10 times the player Beckham will ever be.

So who is better, Beckham in his prime? Or Gerrard now? I dont even have to ask I just want it confirmed on this site

Steven Gerrard is the more complete player absoloutly no doubt.
Beckham at his best was the best passer of the ball in the last ten years and was invaluable to Manchester United. It was no suprise they struggled after he went. he was worth 30 goals a year with assists and his personal tally combined. The problem with beckham was if you found a way to shut him down, he was completely void of inventiveness to do anything else.
Gerrard on the other hand, maybe due to his central midfield berth, takes the game and dictates it, he is no bad passer himself and can play box to box, running non stop. He is also the glue that has held Liverpool together for the last five years.

Im a liverpool fan and have watched gerrard for a few years now, and i possibly look thru red tinted glasses when i say i think he's outstanding. Got all attributes that a footballer would want.

2. Selling jerseys and shoes
3. Going to parties

Yeah, Beckham is good at crossing and is a very talented player with free kicks, he may not have as much pace as Gerrard but people like him as a footballer for his own for his own strengths.

On the other hand, Gerrard has saved Liverpool and England alot of times. (Like Liverpool vs. Supercharged West Ham in the final when he scored the goal for 4-4 and going into penalties which they won.) Gerrard is a talented player with brains, pace, and can even do free kicks as good as Beckham time and again.

The two players are totally different, with different skills. Beckham is one of the best free-kickers & long-ball passers. Gerrard is a solid midfielder with a venomous strike from distance. The only thing they have in common is that they operate in midfield.

I wouldn't exclude either of them from a possible England lineup; except that Beckham is past his peak.

Beckham was good at what he did(free kicks and crosses)other than that I don't think he was outstanding to be honest.I do think in his prime he was relied on a lot but that doesn't make him a great history player.Steven Gerrard on the other hand is a good all rounder.I don't particularly rate him either.When he plays well he plays out of skin but other times he looks like he doesn't want to be on the pitch let alone have a spark about him.
