Christy by Catherine Marshall
I liked the development of Christy throughout the novel. From the young, naive girl at the beginning to a woman who knows her place in the world at the end. The theme of love and friendship that flows through is wonderful. And I just love the characters of Neil and Alice.

There are soo many, (I currently have two trunks full of books), but I'll give my most recent favorite novel.
A Rage in Harlem (For Love of Immabelle) by Chester Himes. I love mystery and crime period, and this book really keeps you on your toes as to what is going to happen next. Not to mention it takes you into the thoughts of the people involved in the happenings with some great descriptions so theres no shortage of imagination. When you have read as many mysteries as I have it's hard to find another and really be surprised or stick with it because the formula doesn't seem to change, but this is a welcome change of pace from the regular detective story. It's a good read.

here's a novel of Danielle Steel of which the character is Paxton Andrews...i forgot the title of the book but i read it when i was in high school, and it was so emotional that i cried a lot of times..the title would be like "message from Nam", though am not sure anymore...but ever since i read that story, the main character stuck in my memory...try reading it. such a GOOD book! thumbs up for Danielle Steel...
i also read novels by Nelson Demille, and if you are into wars and wit, try The Charm School... and of course, Sydney Sheldons "Master of the Game", i believe this is the book that proved him one of the best...

Anna's Story by Bronwyn Donaghy. It was such an eye opener. I read it for the first time when I was 15, now I am 23 it is my favourite book still.
I love it, because it is a real story, about a real teenager in Australia. And it shows how important it is to talk about drugs. My foster mum read it at the same time, and we ended up having a great, informative conversation about drug use.

Anything by Jodi Picoult is really good. Her characters are great, the storylines are riveting, and the settings are local to where I live so it's cool to relate and say "Gosh, I've been to that place." Everyone I know is reading something by her right now. I can walk somewhere and see someone reading one of her books and it strikes up a conversation, either started by me seeing someone reading one or someone seeing me read one. Awesome awesome author, some of her books even appeal to and are appropriate for my teenage daughter, but some are for adults.
