I finally have. This is not just metaphorical, but, living up to the reason I did it in the first place.

The locked door is not locked to the one with the key, but, locked to honor myself and the one who holds the key.

Yes, many times, then they just turn around and break my heart again.

Hi,
Beautifully described. The door is locked but remember that as long as the someone-you-trust holds the key, it can be reopened. You've shut that someone out and in doing so you are standing by your principles but they STILL hold the key which means, there's still a trace of them lingering; she still holds a key to your heart; she still has influence on your thinking (even if its just to trigger thoughts of what-once-was, what-could-have-been). If and when comes the time to change the lock, that's when you know you will have truly lived up to your decision. It all takes time.

I have finally escaped the chamber and the key no longer works, 'cuz I busted the lock to smithereens. But there is a new key to a new place where I can be as free as I want to be- therefore I want to stay. This key unlocks the many doors in my heart and keeps the darker denizens at bay.

I realize that you are not talking about an actual door with hinges and a knob....but I am just far too closterphobic to depend on someone else to let me out. What if the trust I once had is replaced with with something less pure....the room I was once so gladly locked into has become a cell and I will die there being eaten alive by resentment and regret.

Locking the door is a safety issue.
Locking the door to your heart and giving someone the key......does that mean you fell in love with someone special and no one else is allowed in?
There is only room for you and that special person.

I'm asking the same question since two days. Would I give my lover the key (my secrets) for my passions, while my locked door honors myself and my lover too? However my lover detains the key of my book and my soul.

yes, literally and non literally. but mostly no.

yes because i have pets in my house and don't want them to starve. no, if i'm talking about something that you can lock with a code and not a key and don't need anything kept alive.

yes, non literally because i've trusted my one friend with most of my secrets, and they're way beyond anything you could probably imagine. she's also trusted me with hers...though i think sometimes she says things so i think i have someone to relate to. but then again, i'm paranoid, which is also why i can't trust someoen wtih a key.

mostly no, non literally because most people have their best friends to talk with everything, literally, or simply most of hte people i know capable of talking wtih me aren't capable of talking wtih just me

if i locked it, ill open it
if i locked it, ill have no reason to go back to open it up again
if a key must be made
swallow it
having something locked is to keep the danger out one side and me the other

Yes and sometimes it is frightening but I have trust in them and faith that they will not hurt or harm me so ultimately I feel good about things. They have the key and my trust, which is saying alot since I never really trust ANYONE.

Isn't trust the key here??? Why else would one give the key to another if not intending to share and trust?
