are the governments of the western world (my perspective) manipulated under the surface by religion and prevented from making choices for the actual good of the people?

it is in our philippine constitution. we are free to practice faith that we feel is right. but what is right or wrong?

religion is just a footnote in a constitution. or a number (voters) in a goverment.

but in practice, this should never be a part.

i'm the 1st to admit that many christians flow to massive lengths to make the international a extra advantageous place. yet my situation with christianity is that some christians look for to impose their faith on others by using legislations. additionally they have confidence some fairly immoral issues (which contain people deserving to be burned for eternity purely because of the fact they do no longer have confidence in god). If I take a tumbler of unpolluted water, and placed it on a table, truthfully everyone can see that this is sparkling water, and could desire to drink it. yet as quickly as I contaminate it with a small piece of canines poo, this is now no longer sparkling water. Christianity is like that. confident, it does plenty solid. yet as an escaped christian, now an atheist, i will vouch for the undeniable fact that it does much extra harm. We concentration on the undesirable stuff because of the fact the undesirable stuff is purely so undesirable. And this is been lined up or skipped over for thus long. If christianity would be unable to stand scrutiny, what use is it?

what actual "good" for the people are we prevented from making...i remember the the 10 commandments were in school along with prayer and the biggest problem in school then was chewing gum...we have taken religion out of school and allowed to make "good" choices but how has school gotten better...unless you consider moving away from religious values as being better...

for most western countries the answer to your question is 'no'.

there are a few exceptions, usually reflecting historical conditions.

in eire (the republic of ireland) the catholic church was closely involved with the struggle for independence during the 1920s. this has left catholicism with an unusual degree of influence with the irish government. the influence isn't waning as fast as it might (ireland has been independent now for nearly a century), but this is probably because the electorate is comfortable with things as they are.

state and church were carefully separated in the usa by the founding fathers (many of whom were not christian) but during the presidency of ronald reagan (mainly) republican politicians made strenuous efforts to involve the christian far-right in national politics. traditionally america's christian fundamentalists had been politically apathetic (millennial and calvinist churches have no obvious reason for caring about politics) but conservative lobby-groups felt that their backing would be useful for reagan's reactionary social agendas.

reagan successfully flouted the founding fathers' careful separation of church and state, and will one day be seen for the traitor to american values he was.

these days of course we have another republican president in the whitehouse, and the churches have decided it is payback time.

It has been and will always be. Though, in America they try to separate religion from politics but religious organizations are giving lots of money to our politicians to gain power just as big corporations do.

Isn't that what the Constitution is for? The American Constitution was created in such a way that the rights of the People could never be usurped by a religious faction. I presume that this system is still functioning.

religion is a part of people who run government. its foolish to think otherwise and even more foolish to try and separate the two. its better to accept it and go for intelligent decision's
