Candy is dandy, but liquor is quicker was first used by poet Ogden Nash. I take it to mean that if you want to get a girl in the sack, candy is ok, but liquor will get her in bed faster. The poem is called "Reflections on Ice-Breaking".

It's Candy is >dandy<, but...

It means that candy works as a means to impress and gain entry to the House of Lo Men (a.k.a. the Cave of Wonder, Bluebeard's Closet, the Divine Scar, the Cave of Harmony and the Mouth that cannot bite), but liquor will loosen her inhibitions faster.
