How do u upgrade a hammer?went 2 the blacksmith he said i dont have the ore. What is a ore? How 2 obtain it? thanks

The ore needed for upgrading tools depends on the level you are trying to upgrade to. For example, if you are trying to upgrade to gold level hammer, you need a piece gold ore in your inventory. You can skip upgrade levels to go to the highest your tool can take. To check those levels, open your farm ledger and click on your face.
All the ore you need for the first 4 levels of all the tools is found in the first mine. To open the first mine, enter the cave in the far upper right part of the whole games map. It has to be after 9pm but before 11pm and you have to have your hammer in your inventory, not equipped. You should enter a little cinematic that will open the mine. The screen you first enter into when you walk into the cave is not a mine, but you can dig some nice starter funds out of the dirt there.
In the mine, hit rocks with your hammer and you will get a variety of ore. The deeper in the mine you are the more likely you are to get the higher value ore.

I'm sorry I have no idea because I was just about to ask the same question!! I've been playing my sisters DS and I'm stuck trying to find out how to upgrade and make more money!!
