She may have a little body but strong legs. The way she generates power is to throw her entire body into the shot, putting her weight behind the ball, not just using arm. Having strong legs allows her to get to the ball quickly so her feet are planted, and then spring into the shot.

Power comes from racket speed. You don't have to be strong to accelerate you racquet. Thats why bulky beople don't hit very hard. Have you ever noticed the tall skinny players always have the hardest serves. Never the short stocky ones. Ancic has twig arms but his lanky frame allow hit to whip through the ball at great speeds. Other examples Sampras, Ivanisovic, Roddick, Sandon Stolle, Kevin Curren, Mark Rosset.

I've often wondered that myself. The power from shots in tennis come from the legs and core (torso) area. Also, the follow through on your swing helps as well. She just has an all around great command of the game of tennis...she is definitely one of the best.

In the game of tennis, it's not all arm strength. Much of the strenght is through the legs and torso. This is why players lean forward in order to get the power of their legs and torso into the swing as much as their arms.

coordination is the key to power. not arm not legs not any part of the body along can generate awesome power, you have to put everything together at the point of striking.
there used to be a young women pro player named Andrea Yeager who was only 14 when she turned pro and weight only 80 lbs, but she can hit a ton! it is all in the coordination.

she has good strokes that enables power to come from the rest of her body ( legs, core, torso). shes not muscular but enough to make her shots strong and powerful.
