My Accord has about 141000 miles on it. Lately is has started sputtering whenever i come to a stop and ocassionally the engine just dies. After this happens i just put it in park and restart it. This has happened numerous times and so i was wondering what could be wrong with it and how i can fix it. Thank you!

ignore that answer about the carburator, your accord is too new for that.
hondas are prone to the fuel pump relay messing up, it can cause the car to stall and mimic a fuel pump problem. i dont think thats it tho, but if it is its only like 30 bucks and its right under the steering wheel and above the pedals, you could pop the old one out and put the new one in just like a fuse.

id say its the distributor or distributor cap, maybe something is cracked in there. if it hasnt been for a tune up in a while, you should take it in and get that done, as if it needs it it could be several things that a tune up would rule out, including the distributor cap. it could be the idle speed sensor also, but id guess distributor first. maybe even the throttle? like, if it has become loose or something

I'm no mechanic but I've got an 89 Accord and that was happening to me a lot - and also sputtering when I tried starting it and it would often take several attempts. I put some fuel-injector cleaner in the gas tank an it seemed to take care of it. - otherwise it could be fuel filter...have you had an oil change lately and if so, did they check the filters?

Also, um nick I think you're the retarded one - as the word is spelled with a D - not a T

1992 is old for a automobile. isn't it? If someone tries to get you to bypass like that once you get old, nicely... do you actually imagine you'll nevertheless have what it takes? truly, have you ever heard of the expression, "proper speed". Like how briskly do you want to bypass? An air-cooled VW computer virus could purely bypass seventy 2 MPH and that changed into it. It wasn't designed to bypass any swifter notwithstanding the speedometer had readings as a lot as 90MPH.

Your timing could be off. If it runs fast when it is in park, or slow then your timing would be off. You would need to adjust the distributor cap to change the timing. Or use a timing light to set it correctly.

on a 92' accord it probably needs a tune up...Spark plugs, filter changes, oil change, new battery, fuel injector cleaner, also they have problems with the O2 sensors and the Catalytic converters after that many miles....also the timing belt should be changed every 75000 miles...

I think that if you adjust your idle a bit, then you won't stall or die when you slow down.
