Turkey lay on 3% european soil and 97% asian soil. Turkey is an islamic Country. For me it is clear that Turkey is an Asian country.
To make the statistics better, Turkey count Istanbul as european, but around 50% of the citizens of Istanbul are living on the asian side. All together are living around 5% of the population of Turkey in Europe. But the truth is that this 5% includes Istanbul (around 4 Million people on european side). If you take Istanbul out of the Statistics then you have nearly 0% people living in the european Part of Turkey.
Turkey try since a while to become a member of the EU, but this of course only because they expect to make money with it. They want to overrun euorpe with their people to make a lot of money. They don't care about european rights and follow their islamic laws.
Some years ago was 1.500.000 Turkish citizens asked what they do if Turkey becomes a member of the EU. That means that they can travel without Visa to all EU countries. 70% said that they will go to Germany, England, France, Spain and Scandinavia for cheap labour. That means that from the population of 73 million people, around 51 Million People would go to Central Europe. This would be a disaster like nothing ever before in Europe and would destroy the EU.
And this turkish workers would of course save the money that they make and send to Turkey to the families. It means that all this Countries would lose a lot of annual money that flows around. I compare this with the grasshopper plagues in africa.
I hope that Turkey becomes never a member of the EU. It would be the end of Europe!!!

we could say that:
1) If Turkey would have been the old Byzantine empire it would have been part of Europe. Language Greek, poeple of Christian religion, uses and culture of Greece.
2) Being Turkey the derivate of Otman Empire it is NOT a European Country. As
a) Language has nothing to do with any European one
b) Uses are deeply different from even the brodering European Nation
c) Historically Europe is born founded by melting, from Roman Age to Middle ages, the Roman Culture with Christianity. And Both these roots are not in Modern Turkey, born on mixing central-Asian roots with Islam
d) On one sense Europe Identity formed AGAINST turkey : Many of the main monents of Euopean alliance were against Otman Empire : as to say the last Crusade of the end of XV century, the Leagues that helped two times during Wien sieges (especially the second, that unified Slavs and Germans) the Lepanto Legue, that unified south Europe states to defeat the Otman fleet. ...
e) Also Turks do not feel Europeans. They are very very proud of their identity and atcs.....
If Turkish would be "European" also Chinese could be European.......
Geographically 95% of Turkey is in Asia. Only Istambul and sorrounding is in Europe. And the fact that is no more called neither "Constantinople" or "Bizantium" explain why it couldn't be Europe. It is Turkey.
Now for economic matters (some European burocrat) and for political causes (USA) some wants to make Turkey a part of Europe.... But in many votations European citizens refused this Idea...

Both - - part of Turkey is in Europe though the bulk of Turkish territory is in the area called "Anatolia" which is part of Asia.
If you look at a map of the area you can see this clearly.
The CIA data source is the best.
