So can anyone tell me a little more about this?? Does it take away sensation, does it look funny???? Talk to me!

People write in every day about this. Most girls are very self-conscious about their longer lips, but most guys either don't care or actually prefer them. The stuff in porn is mostly fake, altered or airbrushed etc.
Google "labiaplasty" and you will find more info on the surgery...I found out about it a while ago but I'm afraid I lost the link, it had before/after pics. These girls got it done because of chafing and stuff, not looks though, apparently. To be honest it didn't look like it made much of a difference, well I think it all looks rather ugly anyway. I believe there can be a loss of sensation but I doubt it would be a big thing, then again I did read about some woman complaining about after she got surgery down there and had pleasure problems after. Also I read somewhere that longer lips can be better during sex because the clit gets stimulated more.
I would say unless it's causing real problems then best to leave it how it is. Down there is for function, not looks (and not many people see it anyway), and if it's working ok then be careful trying to fix it in case it doesn't go as you hope. Expensive too, unless your doctor means you can get it done under insurance.

It is normal for some women to have their labia minora (the thinner set of vaginal lips) to be long. I had the surgery to my left labia minora because of the fact that it caused a great deal of pain and irritation when I wore panties and pads.
I wish I had never done it (I had the procedure done 10 years ago). The reason I wish I had never done it is because of the fact that I have had nothing but problems physically since that surgery. One of the things I lost was not being as lubricated in that area as I used to be. If I had it to do all over again I would have never had the surgery.
After I did more research I figured out that the excess skin on that left labia minora was caused by a hormone imbalance I had going on.
I don't know where you are located but if in the U.S. most insurance companies will not cover the surgery because it is considered a comsetic surgical procedure. I had to get approval to get mine covered because of the problems I had with pain and irritation.
Also, if you have the surgery done you will have to tell all other healthcare professionals involved in your care that you had the surgery done as part of your medical record.
I would not recommend it unless you were having a lot of pain and irritation from the skin and ask your doctor about the possibility of hormone imbalances to see what they say.
If you have other questions for me please feel free to e-mail or IM me off site any time.

Honey your lips are fine the way they are! We are all different in some ways and there is no standard for how long our labia (vaginal lips) are supposed to be. If they don't cause health problems and they feel pleasure sensation to touch than you don't have to do anything.
Believe me a man who sees them will Not have an issue! Surgery will just cost and will not do you any good but will make you hurt Very much for a while and reduce sensitive tissue area. No one you want to know will care what your vulva looks like. Why the hell go through it??

I have done some reading on the subject and offer you a combination of learnt knowlage and personal opinion.
First up, it was written in an article that due to porn and those who star in them, wome have approached their gynoclolgists more and more lately in order to "scalpt" their labia.
Gynoclogists are cashing in on the deal also, making the relatively simple operation very expencive nowadays.
It is a known fact that most porn stars, males and female are often subject to surgery in order to "perfect" their genitalia.
Some actually sign contracts with porn film makers to advance the financing for these operations and then repay the film makers for the advance with installments from their pay over a period of time.
Now, it is my personal opinion and experience that most men do not actually worry too much what the labia look like as their main interest is in penile penetration.
Better for you then to do one of two things.
1) Get over your tension regarding you body by knowing that men all have this fear about their genitalia. Every man fears that the woman they sleep with has had a "bigger" penis in her past.... So you are not alone in this. Even your partner has a phobia.
2) If you cannot adapt, go see a normal G. P who you trust and confide in him, requesting him to tackle this simple operation on you. It will cost less than going to a Gynocologist.(Medical aid funds usually do not cover this kind of procedure).
Lastly:
This operation will not affect your sensation in any way.
Good luck

How long has it been a concern? It seems you've managed OK till now. Done properly it will look better without a major change in sensation but issues like that would be covered in your initial consultation.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. We are all different, and appeal to different tastes, so having surgery may or may not be a good idea. I don't think I would want anyone cutting me unless it was a medical necessity. Be happy with what you have and don't try to compare yourself with pictures in movies and photos. They pick the "perfect" woman or touch up the photos.

It's funny. Mine are long too. I complained and my mama said they sound long to her. I dated a guy nearly twenty five years ago. After we had sex, I neatly tucked my labia "in place" near my vagina. He laughed and asked what I was doing. I explained and told him I didn't like him laughing. I knew he wanted to be a doctor. I said "I hope you don't become a gynocologist!" Dammit if he didn't become the ob/gym at the local charity clinic!
Is that a labia legacy or what?
Seems like a long labla can carry you a long ways!

Your lips aren't that sensitive to begin with so hacking off an inch or so probably wouldn't affect your feeling down there. You should be proud of your huge lips, some guys really like that. Wave your lips in the wind and be happy.

No, it doesn't take away any sensation, all it will do is make you look more porn-like, for a lack of a better term to use here. It'll be more aesthetically pleasing...and health-wise, more hygienic depending on the method you use to deal with periods.
