Right not we are a stressed out society. I have a feeling the violence and racism we see are results of stress our society is faceing. Not simply angry "stupid" ppl.
Right now we like to believe we are rich and well off and better because the war isnt fouhgt in our country, but we are dealing with a hell of alot.
It been proven decades past the number of lynching went up the same time economic stress was rampant. Cotton was not selling, more ppl lynched.
Could we just be seeing another patch of "modern day lynchings" ?

All of these things are symptoms of a growing level of stress due in part to the war and terrorism.

I would say though that the United States is well off only in the eyes of the Middle class and Up. A lot of the problems are caused by the sense of hopelessness on the part of the lower class.

It is all a part of a global collapse in civilization that is going to become even more evident as oil reserves dwindle and even those with rose colored glasses will have to see that the end is near.

Racism comes from one's environment, plain and simple.

Stress has nothing to do with it.

If you are raised in a prejudice home, in a prejudice community you will likely carry the same prejudice.

The Iraq war is not about prejudice, although some supporters are so.

How do you figure the USA is stressed out? We're at the highest standard of living anywhere in the world in the entire history of humankind. Don't let current events on the TV news fool you. The media serves one purpose, make money. And sensationalism sells.

Lynchings weren't the result of poor cotton sales. It's much deeper than that.

I don't go into racism specifically but it might give you some insight into the way things go.

Racisim is based upon an apparent difference in races. One is the dominant, one is the inferior, others stratify in between. It is bourne out of truth.
You have three predominant races - *******, mongoloid, caucasoid. Anything else is a blend.
******* - equatorial, strong, stupid. Shelter not necessary. Food plentiful. Hazards plentiful. Physical strength prospers.
Mongoloid- mid lattidude, arid. Physically weak due to early domestication of animals. Ingenuity to find water and shelter grew brains over generations.
Cauc - north lats. Middle strong - middle smart. Best mix - superior.
Whites hate black (stupid and animal)
Whites hate yellow (shifty, calculating, plentiful - like bugs)
Blacks hate whites because they got conquered and enslaved.
Blacks hate yellow but they don't know why.
Yellow hates everyone because they are shifty and calculating.
It is the natural order. Social Darwinism.
Whites own the land.
Yellow manages and improves the land.
Blacks work the land.

Racism is a direct result of ignorance. Personally I have no real objection to an individual being a racist. By thinking that one is superior to another is alright with me. However, I do have a very serious problem with any individual who takes the position of the bigot and refuses me to feel just as he feels about his/her ethnicity.

Whenever people are stressed out, they tend to find scapegoats (it's human nature not to blame oneself). And since crime and racism can still be major issues in the US, it's quite easy to blame someone simply because of the color of their skin.

But it's not a simple black-and-white (no pun intended) issue; the reality is that whites are usually much more affluent than blacks, and since upper-class people look down on lower-class people, it's just very "convenient" for the white and rich to blame the "poor blacks".

Racism was born of fear of the unknown. The very first time one tribe of men met another tribe of men racism was born. Today racism is taught. Taught by parents who are bigots and racists to their children. And their children pass it done to their children. Is there a hope to end racism I certainly wish for one. But I am 60 and I doubt it will be in my lifetime.

The things you listed have been issues in the United States for decades. You are just now becomong aware of it and that is a good thing...maybe people such as yourself are willing to make a change for the better.

Very little racism in the US vis-a-vis white-Asian, -white-latino, white - black. But most racism nowadays is coming from the blacks against the whites. One wonders if the blacks will ever be able to 'get over' the slavery issue. Even though 1/2 million whites died to 'free' them. Maybe the blacks are ashamed they did not free themselves.
At present it appears that for the majority of blacks, their posture is that of a failed sub-culture. Much like teenagers they are blaming every body else but themselves for their wretched condition. Katrina exposed that the best. None are starving though.

Yes, and judging from the increased numbers of road rage incidents and assaults, it's not just racial relations that are strained. Basic manners and plain courtesy are endangered. The world's civilizations seem to be self-destructing.

Racism is a taught hatred. I think people are racist because they are taught to hate instead of accept. Also people love to have a common enemy and someone to blame. Bad things that happen are easier to deal with if you have someone to blame.
