well, normally my answer to this would be a motorboat with a working engine and gas, but since this is for your school, i'll choose out of the choices.

It's simple survival tactics, gender and age have nothing to do with it so I'm not going to reveal that.
1. A weeks worth of food - a rather obvious choice as food is a necessity to sustain life.
2. A fishing pole and tackle box - since I don't know how long I might be stranded and may run out of food.
3. Matches would provide warmth and the ability to cook and can be used as a signal and a saw of sorts.
4. A leatherman - This could help me create some of the things I didn't choose.
5. A water purification kit could save me a lot of effort.

1.I would take (#10) Weeks worth of food and spread it out. You never know how long you would be there and I would hate to die of starvation!!
2.Water purification kit. You need good water to drink.
3. Mirror. so I can get the hell out of there
4. Matches. so I can try to cook the food and stay warm.
5. Raft. Maybe I can get away.

1-water is needed for survival and I can't go 20 minutes without drinking some
3- I am not a caveman I need matches to start a fire
8- I don't like being soaked
10- I don't eat bugs
and I guess #5. I might as well catch up on my studies! lol
