Trying to find out the salary of a Police officer in 1971.

Any ideas?

As a probationer constable £73.00 net a month.

I took home about £70 a month and I was married also got a police house,free prescriptions,spectacles and dental care as reporting on duty unfit was an offence and without free medical care you wouldn't have been able to afford to stay fit.

Probationers/Trainees start on around £22k a year After Probationary Period of 2 years you go up to £25k per year So monthly i believe your just short of £2k
