Keystone oil is 10 times heavier than water. When the pipe leaks,it will sink to the bottom and the toxic chemicals will mix with the water. The entire water supply east of the rockies will forever be polluted. The keystone owners have found a loophole, they won't have to pay the insurance like it was oil. Therefore won't pay for spills. Taxpayers bailout again.

Oil is actually heavier if you are measuring an individual molecule, but if you take an identical volume the water molecules are more densely packed that amount of water will weigh more. Thus, oil floats on water. Ice works in a similar way causing it to float on water even though it is a solid.

No, water is heavier than oil.
i don't know how I'm going to prove the density of oil and water to you. I don't know what kind of answer you are looking for. Do you want a molecular chart and equation of why oil is less dense than water?
why would you ask this? It's so obvious that oil floats on water. dear lord...

Put oil in water. If it sinks, it is heavier. If it floats, it is lighter.
Most oils are lighter than water.

how much oil vs. how much water? a pound of oil weighs the same as a pound of water. are we talking equal volumes? the density (mass per unit volume) is less than that of water. so if we are talking about equal volumes then water is heavier than oil.
