I'm writing a fanfic set in Deer Creek, Illinois. From what I've been able to find out on Wikipedia and MapQuest, it's on Interstate Route 74, between Peoria and Bloomington. It has a population of about 600. Nobody seems to know anything else about it, and I'm wary of using Google. Has anyone ever been there? I've already downloaded a street map of the town, but none of the buildings are marked out on it, and I need to know a bit more about what the area looks like.

I just found it on citydata.com, it's got plenty about the town itself (schools, hospital, etc.) but no photos or anything about what it looks like. There's a TON of statistical data as well.

I tried the google images, again, it's mainly real estate, and it hasn't helped a lot. Google Earth isn't helping either (I have the free one) as it pixellates at a certain distance, preventing me from seing anything but blurs.

You can get a satellite shot of the town from Google Earth. It covers just about the whole planet with photos. Being a small town it won't give you the higher definition so it may not help you any more than a map does...

Do they have a Chamber of Commerce? Do they have a web site? Have you searched the photos for the town name?

Good luck to you. It seems like a challenge.

Hey, how about this. Ask if anyone on YA lives close enough to get some photos and email them to you. I can't help, I am in California but if you can find someone you will have a real winning report.
