Let nature take its course - never be in a rush with babies they will do all the steps necessary in their own time - they don't operate to a timetable lol. If you have any genuine concerns ask your midwife/doctor - otherwise just enjoy. x

Hummm, I wonder if the surroundings are too bright? Is the atmosphere too noisy? Is she sick? Has she been back to the doctor since she was born? Is she eating okay? Is she sleeping okay?
Newborns sleep a LOT for awhile, so I really wouldn't worry too much right now. It appears their little eyes are swollen at first, but they will come around. Giver her some time.
I know first time parents do worry a lot about their first babies, but by the time you have your second or third, you'll be old hands at this baby thing. [smile]
If she is feeding okay, and she isn't running a temperature, and she is wetting okay, and her bowels are moving okay, and she is sleeping and waking okay, then I'd say everything is as it should be.
Are you bathing her periodically and is she reacting okay to the baths? If you happen to get a little water on her face, does she react to the water on her face? Does she cry? Does she like the baths? Some babies react differently to their baths, so it's hard to tell one way or the other about bath time.
But, if you are super worried about her, then no harm in calling her doctor. But, I'm sure that first appointment is just around the corner, right? If you are within days to a week or so, I'd say wait until the appointment. But, if you are a couple of week away, I'd say call the doctor and tell them of your concern, just to be sure.
And, have a wonderful life with your precious bundle!

Newborns can open and close their eyes from the time they are born. I would check with a doctor on this one.

Newborns should open their eyes very soon after birth. Well most do anyways. You should go ask your pediatrician about this one. Cause there may be something wrong.

You can't force a newborn to do what he's not ready for. If you're too weary take the baby to the doctor.

You should be asking a doctor.
My boys both came out with their eyes open (at least that is what I am told). She should have her eyes open by now.

Oh, don't make her that just sounds wrong, like waking a sleeping baby. It might be that the lighting is too bright???
