"Aiding and abetting" is also known as obstruction of justice or misprision, and is a crime. What it means is that you are giving material assistance to someone who has committed a ***felony*** that enables them to avoid prosecution (such as hiding that person in your home) when you are AWARE that such a felony has been committed. (i.e. the gas station attendant, the bus driver, the gas meter reader would not be 'aiding and abetting' unless aware of the crime)

Misdemeanors (at least at common law) don't count. Also, immediately family members ***may*** be immune to prosecution but there's no such defense for others (such as just a friend, but a spouse would likely be considered a close family member)

it is aiding and abetting. Anything one does to help a fugitive avoid capture. If you aid them with money, lodging, or help them flee a jurisdiction. Of course it must be proven that u knew the person or persons were wanted by the authorities.

Helping them in person or at distance by wiring money or any other form of help. Anything to aid them in evading law enforcement. It is most likely a felony. There could be a short list of other charges as well.

Help, aid, assistance in any way, form, or description. That could be as simple and innocent as giving directions, helping change a tire, etc., but usually it would be attempting to hide or to render assistance in escaping, etc.
