Yes, im a girl. But i just wanted to know what the guys thought. what age is appropriate for masturbating?

im 12 1/2. and im starting to feel the urge to mastubate! especially when im showering. but im really scared to go far up because i dont want to pop my cherry or anything!

Well there is never an appropriate age for it. Most kids start playing with themselves they realize there is something there. Like umm 1-2 years old. Most get board and move on because they don't experience the pleasure until right as puberty starts. Nerds and geeks are probably still doing it in the basements in their 30's while mom comes down to wash their laundry. I think most kids do it 12-13. Some start as early as 8 or 9 years old. Its more of an individual based on exposure and personal development. Most kids will do it while in middle school and as they begin to have their first sexual experiences move on with more stuff and get tired of it. Girls masturate, too. It's not an monopoly of the boys. While both can obtain pleasure from their genitals prior to puberty, and do, the usual age is taken as after the onset of puberty, when boys can ejaculate and girls can have intense orgasms. Most boys do masturbate prior to age 14, and I guess girls do about 1-2 years earlier than that.

Get a mirror, stand over it, and look at your self, the clitoris is at the top of your inner labia, and your vagina and urethra are at the lower end. There is no need to penetrate yourself at all during masturbation, using your fingers to stimulate your clitoris will do all that is needed.

12 is a common age for both boys and girls to start exploring their bodies. more than likely you will have some difficulty if you plan on inserting anything, including your fingers into your vagina. However, many girls will start by rubbing around the clitoris and discovering what they think feels good. everybody is different and will have different feelings so try it and see what you like.
