To anyone who works in childcare:

Do you feel that a bachelors degree is necessary to teach in a preschool? Why or why not? Do you feel that an associates degree is necessary? As far as I'm aware most centers just require 24 ECE units. What do you think?

The more degrees you have the higher your pay can go. Doesn't mean much in pre-school but most large public school systems pay higher per degree. So while some get raises, some don't.

If you are going to work in a day care you usually don't need any college. If, you work in the preschool or kindergarten areas, you should check and see the states requirements. If you don't want to stay in a low paying, though VERY REWARDING job, go to school and get your BS degree.

I hate to say this, but the income is hugely different if you have a BS vs an AA. If you become a single parent like I did, and I had my BS I made tons more and had great benefits, it is a great back up system
