"If your gourds begin to mold, DO NOT throw them away. Molding is a natural process for drying gourds. A gourd is 80 percent water, so as the moisture evaporates through the outer skin, a bacteria grows and causes a mold. When there is no longer moisture left in the gourd, the mold will start to die and lie flat against the gourd's surface. At this time the gourd should weigh very little and the surface should be dry and slightly rough to the touch."
I'd dilute some bleach with water and use an old toothbrush or copper scrubber to spot clean.

Use vinegar, full strength, with the cloth wrung out to only be slightly damp.

Anything else will damage the gourd to some degree.

Also, the stain may remain after the mold is gone.

Use lemon juice to remove the stain, but not so much as to get the gourd too wet, or it will warp the surface

diluted bleach water and a scrub brush will work wonders.
A diluted bleach solution will not hurt the gourd and will kill the mold.
