To answer your question , no you are not the only one. For those of us who post here regularly it gets a bit irritating ,but for some of the younger ones we need to guide them gently into doing their own work. Surely they don't think we are unaware of what they are doing. I don't have a problem with sometimes guiding them toward a site, but the Haydn thing was unbelievable!!
I don't even mind too much the frequent pop music questions we get. Like Malcolm D, the ones that really bother me are the ones on things like chemistry, personal problems, etc. How do these people ever wander over to this forum?
Musician, teacher.

Absolutely, and it's not just here...you see ALOT of it in the books and literature section. It drives me crazy, because they have no idea what they are missing.
Sometimes I go on little missions where I hunt them down and call them out on it, (along with all the suckers who answer them.) Another fun thing to do is to give them totally wrong information, but make it sound totally valid and correct. Maybe it's a little mean, but when they get that 'F' handed back to them on their book report..."No, I'm sorry Johnny, but The Grapes of Wrath is not about an Italian winemaker struggling to keep his Italian vineyard out of debt in the midst of WWI" then maybe the lazy little sh*ts will learn their lesson, hehe
...And it's so irritating when people answer them because it is SO obvious when it's a homework question, and all these answerers either don't care that they are fostering an even higher degree of ignorance in today's children, or they are so excited about sounding 'smart' and knowing the answer that they don't even think about why the questions are being asked, and what these kids are missing out on with the cop-outs that sites like these are providing.

Yeah that was pretty blatant of the poster asking all those Haydn questions. It is worse in the Science and Mathematics section though. There aren't even any genuine questions left about science. All they want are solved equations without even seeing the steps.

Because I snoop (call me a good researcher !!!) I did notice you were called "lazy !!!" ..... to ans. your Q ....I am not really tired of them ..... I just think they might be lonely and maybe they could do with a kind word ....so I either ignore my amazement at them and don't respond, or I try to steer them to doing their own research because it would weaken them if I gave them too much of an assist .. and hopefully they will acquire a taste for research! Not everything relevant or interesting is in your class text books.
To confess: I wish we had more of those multiple choice questions...... I really enjoyed those!
P.S. I'm adding a footnote to this ans. because I did not answer your Q about rehearsal pianist skills ....your Q&A's are closed to view ....so I do not exactly remember what you mentioned, but I have been thinking about it. Is it that you are asked for rehearsal purposes to play the voice lines and it is a little difficult since the notes are spaced apart to allow for room for the words? I think that is what you meant ......I have a friend who was a reherarsal pianist, and although he was an absolutely terrific sight-reader, even for organ music with the foot pedals as part of the music, he did not like doing this particular thing....he figured the singers ought to be good enough at sight reading without an assist from him, but time was often short before services and he had to plow in.....the only thing I can suggest is to get the organist to give you the music a week ahead and at least you will have time to look it over ... my friend was always cussing at the organist because the organist always forgot!!! The organist, btw, was an even better sight reader. As a matter of fact he was a conductor in addition to being an organist of recital quality. so, hey .... don't feel bad. Just keep on with it....
My only other thought is to read through some music that is much more difficult to read .... like orchestral scores ....just to get used to playing them if you can, even if it is just two lines from the wind section of a full score; just chase them down the page for a couple of pages, if that makes sense ... .... just so your eye adjusts to something way above your ordinary skills....and then when you go back to playing the voice lines for church anthems, it will all look easier to you .....I am sure it is a matter of vision: how wide is your field of vision....
best, hope it helps

You've only been around a little while in this forum --the examples you have seen are mild compared to what has been posted here in the past.
I would suggest that you do what I do -- either ignore them, or point them in a direction that will force them to "sing for their supper". It's too much trouble to get upset about them. Life is too short. :-)

Yes, I make a point of telling them to do their own homework. It is one of the more irritating things that happens on YA, the other is people asking questions that have nothing to do with the forum they post on.
