one was bombed and one was sunk by human error.
One was a war ship, one was a luxury ship.
One was in open sea, one was in a harbor.
One perpetuated a war, the other didn't.
One was in the 19th century, one was from the 20th.
One had a movie made about it with nudity, the other didn't.

The first USS Maine (ACR-1), was a second-class pre-dreadnought battleship (launched in 1889, sometimes referred to as an armored cruiser) whose sinking by an explosion, on February 15th 1898, precipitated the Spanish-American War.
The second USS Maine (BB-10), launched in 1901, was the lead ship of her class of battleships. She participated in the voyage of the Great White Fleet, and was decommissioned in 1920 to be sold for scrap in 1923.
The third USS Maine (BB-69) was a Montana class battleship, and was canceled in 1943.
The fourth USS Maine (SSBN-741) was an Ohio class nuclear ballistic missile submarine, launched in 1994 and still in active service as of 2007.
And obviously the Titanic was a civilian ship from Britain.

The Maine was a U.S.S. navy ship that exploded in the Spanish-American War. As a result, 266 men were killed as the ship sank off the coast of Key West, Florida.
Titantic was a cruise-liner that hit an iceburg in the Atlantic Ocean and sank with 45 minutes. It was the first largest cruise ship ever built and man even boasted that "God could not bring her down."
Unfortunately, in April 1912, almost 1500 people lost their lives.

no cheating . at least goto wikipedia or google and read up on this. this is how you learn! in the old days, we had no google and had to flip thru the freaking encyclopedia... or goto the library...etc.
When you know HOW to get the info you need, you'll find that it's priceless knowledge when you are like 30... and you'll be the goto person at work
