I just aquired a 1990 Pontiac Transport mini-van/3.1 liter engine/fuel injected/auto trans. The man I got it from said it was suffering from a clogged fuel filter. However after changing the filter the gas still won't come thru the line. We can hear the fuel pump working, but nothing is coming thru. Is there a screen in the tank that might be clogged? Is there a relay or switch that needs replacing? Any suggestions?

I've had a couple of experiences with Chevy's, and I'm sure a Pontiac has the same thing being that they are both GM cars. Inside the fuel tank is the pump and sending unit. The pump has a short piece of rubber tubing that connects to the top of the pump and to the metal tubing that comes through the top of the tank. The rubber, over time will deteriorate and split or just fall apart. In the absence of any fuel line kinks or clogs, my suggestion would be to pull out the fuel pump. I know that may not be what you want to hear because I know how much work that is, (try doing it on a Camaro. You have to drop down the whole rear axel), but I think you will end up with no other option.

try blowing back through the line and see if that helps as there is a screen on the fuel pump and it may be clogged. by blowing it may move the trash and let the gas flow, if gas comes out drop tank and clean it real good and get a new screen. you may even be able to drive it a while.
