This is my first time selling something on ebay
im selling a jersey and im confused about the shipping
is it the higher i set my shipping, the more money that will go in my pocket once someone buys my item
or is it wutever i set the shipping to, my paypal is also charged for shipping and the buyer pays for shipping too, so it evens out?
if the 2nd one's true, then will my paypal account be charged for shipping when i directly finish putting the item up for sale? or will my account be charged when my item is bought??

im soo confused :(

How do you plan on shipping it? fed-ex, UPS, or USPS? then get a scale and weigh your jersey. Then go to the shippers site and see how much it costs to ship something of that weight. Around there is how much you should set shipping.

Also with shipping the buyer will pay for shipping along with the payment for the jersey.

example:
you weigh your jersey and chose UPS to ship it. it says for the weight of your jersey it'll cost 5 dollars to ship. Someone wins your auction for $150.00. Then will then pay you $155.00 for price of the jersey and shipping.

Personally I feel that its ok to charge slightly more then the shipping charge for the handling. it was your gas that took you to the post office to ship that jersey was it not. Just make sure you don't charge a huge amount. few people will bid. also many people have a high amount they will pay for an item including shipping. Those people will bid less. Just make sure its a fair price. away to get an idea is look at other auctions and see how much they charge. look for an someone that has done it a few times. Also see who they use.

Hello.

Okay, here's what to do.

First package the item as if you were going to send it (after taking your pictures for your ad). Then weight the package. Most Post Offices have a scale that you can weigh things on to find out how much it is going to cost you to mail it.

Now you have to deciede a couple of things. Do you want to send it Parcel Post or Priority Mail. The Post Office has a fixed rate large envolpe that you can mail in for $4.80 for Priority mail. I'm sure it will fit in that. If you do that, you're fixed price for mailing will be $4.80

When you set up your ad, you can put in a fixed price for mailing. It doesn't have to be the same price it will cost you to mail the item. You can add what ever price you want to the shipping. But I wouldn't go over a couple of dollars. Nothing turns a buyer off more than seeing an item sell for $1 and being charged $50 for shipping.

PayPal doesn't charge you for shipping. You are responsible for paying for shipping. You would do it just like you would anything else you mail out. With stamps or at the Post Office. But if you want, you can use PayPal to pay for your shipping.

Next to the sold item on your MY EBAY page, you'll see a link that says PRINT SHIPPING LABEL. If you want to use PayPal to pay for your shipping and print a shipping label for you, click that.

If you do, it will take you to your PayPal account. Fill out the information, print your label (which is then a pre-paid shipping label) and tape it to your package and mail it.

If you don't want to use PayPal, just ship it like you normally would.

The first time can be a little confusing. But after you do it once or twice, you'll be an old pro at it.

I hope that helps a little. If you have more questions, feel free to contact me though me eBay Store and I'll be glad to help you (link in the source box).

Best wishes to you and happy eBay-ing!
Robbie

Huh ! , dude you just confused me. just weigh the item with packaging. and list it at that weight and list it for what delivery rate(parcel , priority etc.) add any handlig charges you want to add.or you can just have a flat delivery rate that will cover all your costs.
