There are Black extremists, White extremists, Heterosexual extremists, Israeli extremists, Islamic, and so on.
Yet somehow, if one is gay, it is impossible to be an extremist? Can we have some honest debate or are we going to drift down the river of the Nile?

The point is NOT to bash anyone.
I would like to have an open discussion on this issue and can't if people won't admit a fact of life such as every "group" has their share of extremists.

Uh, I think you need to take off the tin foil. Because the Christian right calls every gay person who is not a closeted door mat a gay extremist.

Not in denial really? I see plenty of politicians playing the "homosexual extremists" card to get votes. From Rick Santorum to Sam Brownback, their are no shortage of anti-gay politician ready to paint gay people who want basic protections for their relationships, which straight people take for granted, as extremists.
And I missed the last time a gay person was on tv demanding that someone else be striped of their basic rights but I am sure a list would be easy to make of the opposite.
And there is a BIG DIFFERENCE between gays and pedophiles.

What is your definition of extremist???
For the examples that you've given, there are multiple definitions for the title.
Now, there are prideful gays, but they're not extremist about it. They're just proud to be gay. I'm one of them.
ADDITIVE TO UMBRELLA EXPERT FOR HIRE'S ANSWER -
You can not mix a pedophile arguement with homosexual rights. It's not the same in any way, form, or fashion. They are two totally different groups.
There is a difference between a legal adult following his/her emotions and entering a relationship with another legal adult and a man wanting to twiddle a kid.
And even if there were no difference, this is still not reason enough from keeping two legal adults from following their hearts and getting married.

Okay, I'll admit there are probably gay extremists. I have never witnessed them myself but there are usually extremists of every nature and there are probably gay ones as well. The only group I could possibly think of that would be is NAMBLA, but I don't really think of them as a group that tries to represent the gay community in an extreme fashion. They're more about pedophilia. Think of it this way: if it were the National Little Girl Man Love Association would that be heterosexual extremism? I don't think so because the focus isn't on their sexuality. That's a given. The focus is on their love of having sex with children.

Certainly there are gay extremists. There are extremists in every walk of life and in any dimension where there are human differences.
However, most people label any gay person who refuses to hide his/her true nature as an extremist. That's just silly.
The would be like saying that any left-handed person who actually writes with their left hand is a left-handed extremist.
It's not the gays who scare me in our society. It 's the closed-minded crowd who refuse to accept anyone different from them.

There are probably gay extremists, I just don't know who could be fit to have the title. I don't really want to rush to judgment. They'd probably have to be advocating for superior status and more rights than anyone else or something like that, you know like what the white supremacists want.
If anyone answers NAMBLA, they're an advocacy group for pedophilia and child rape, not gay rights.

I haven't heard anyone deny that there can be extremist gays. Pim Fortuyn from the Netherlands comes to mind.

Wow, look at you Chi Guy!
You had better be careful, or else George Soros will revoke your card-carrying Leftwing Liberal status. You can't just go questioning the agenda of the Left's favored minority groups!
What were you thinking?!

Homosexuality isn't generally given to expressing itself in modest or moderate fashion. And if not, then "extreme" is about all that's left.
