Here's what I found for the 46th Illinois at Vicksburgh:

Sixteenth Army Corps (detachment), Maj.-Gen. Cadwallader C. Washburn

Fourth Division, Brig.-Gen. Jacob G. Laumann

Second Brigade, Col. Geo. C. Rodgers; 46th Ill.

Company "B" - Captain William J. Reitzell

Go to this site, click regiment and then fill in 46th etc. You will then get a list of over 3000 soldiers that served in the regiment. It shows what company they were in and their rank on entering and when mustered out. I am not going to scroll through 3000 names looking for a captain mustered out of Co. B in 1866. Sorry I have other things to do. Glad I found this site though. The Internet is pretty amazing.

Added Later: I am assuming that you do mean the Capt. of "B" Company? Your punctuation is a little confusing.

The 46th was with Grant in Vicksburg. Lt. Col. John Jones may be whom you are looking for.
