okay.
first of all, this is not asking "when are they making wicked a movie?"
thats been asked a million times.
NO BODY KNOWS!!!

but i have an opinon based question,
if they do make wicked into a movie,
do you think they should make it more like the novel
or the musical?

i think they should make it more like the novel!
Trust me, im a HUGE fan of both the book and the musical
but if they made the movie based on the musical
it would seem to ruin the show.
:[

so i think they should base it more on the book.
[just leave all the sexual stuff out]

another upside to making the movie based on the boook is
they can also make "son of a witch"

but idk,
what do you think?

I agree all the way with hazeltin and totally disagree with Montague. The musical has so many fans I think if the movie were made like the novel that yes people would see it, but millions would be crying out for the musical. I really don't think that a non-musical would appeal to a wider audience. The musical has had such vast appeal, I mean way beyond your typical theatre geek. Families would FLOCK to see it and that gets producers and studios attention. I even think that theatres would make tons of cash off doing a second run a few weeks later with a double feature running the Wizard of Oz before Wicked, kids would dress in blue gingham dresses and ruby slippers, some will sing along... it will be annoying, but the whole thing will make bank at the box office. Especially if they get Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel. I would also love to see Jenna Leigh Green as Nessarose :-)

However, if they make it more true to the book I like the Tim Burton idea. Honestly, I'd wait for the DVD though. For the musical, I'd pay the ridiculous ticket price and see it on the big screen.

my two cents

I agree with you for a couple reasons: First, the book is obviously a lot better. Second: There seems to be a lot of musicals being released in the theaters now based on Broadway shows. I think by not having a musical, it would appeal to a larger audience. And I would love for both books to be make into a movie.
On the other hand, the musical is great, and has a large following. Also, the Wizard of Oz was a musical, so it would make sense for the prequel to be also.
I just wish we could stop talking about it and have the movie made to enjoy!

that's already been decided. With the success of the "Phantom of the Opera" movie, they are doing "Wicked" like the musical. Now, to do it like the book, it would be a great project for Tim Burton to direct.

I think they should make it more of the musical, but his other books should be "normal" movies

regrettably, there is not a depraved action picture. possibly sometime. in case you opt for a sturdy Broadway based action picture, attempt Chicago - it extremely is a few woman that kills the guy that she's having an affair with and her trial. it is unquestionably extremely sturdy.
