I do actually know, but I thought on a whim I'd see how many other people know the answer

Ok well being new to this area of yahoo, I didn't know this question has been asked before, but so far no one as yet has got the right answer anyway.

The big clue is that all Goldfish are decendants from the European Crucian Carp and yes males and females do have sex names. ****/twit is wrong as goldfish only carry eggs not young. And even then they lay them within two days of developing them inside their bodies.

The point to this question for those who asked, is that people don't know and assume they do so I want to see how many do.

Its actually more obvious than you think and if you don't believe me when I say the answer is that she is called a Sow, then get Nick Fletcher, Britains top coldwater fish Expert to confirm it for you.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and accept that some countries have different names, but in Britain, the correct name for a female goldfish is a Sow. Male are called Boars. I have checked the theory and its actually the Japanese that originally called Goldfish Twats. So on a basis that its actually now 4.45 in Britain, I am tired and will accept a condition that most of us are technically correct

Not wanting to further annoy people but should I just delete this question?

It is a myth that pregnant goldfish are called twits, it is completly fallacious, as goldfish can't be pregnant, they are egg layers.
The twit is the person who falls for the joke.
In principle, there could be a word for a female fish with egg development such as 'twit'. There is no listing in any aquarists handbook ordictionary.

Why is this such a fascinating concept? This question gets asked like once a week. Yes, it's a twit. Congratulations. And the old-fasioned word for a rooster is a vulgar term for male anatomy. And the name for a female dog is also vulgarity. Any other animal terms you'd like to have an immature laugh about?

it all depends on wheather the female is full of row (eggs) or not . A female gold fish full of row is CALLED a twit. I have been breeding goldfish for over 20 years and so did my father for more than 50 years

A Gold Digger !! Ha.. Ha.. Well I had to... anyways... No I really don't know, but that a very interesting question.

And No don't erase the question. I would have never guessed they were called sows and boars, or the other names either.
